John Janis has been with the firm since 1990. John was born in New York City and raised in the New York/New Jersey area before moving out west.

He graduated with honors from the University of Idaho Law School in 1986. He was Executive Editor of the Idaho Law Review in 1985-86.

John’s practice focuses on personal injury, medical malpractice and commercial litigation. He has worked on a number of high profile, large and complex cases throughout the years, helping generate some impressive results. Examples include a $7.55 million medical malpractice verdict, a $6.15 million wrongful death verdict, a $2.2 million verdict against the U.S. government, a $1.8 million recovery in a medical malpractice case, and a $900,000 verdict against a developmental center.

John has also been a frequent lecturer at legal seminars, speaking on topics relating to civil trial practice. He has been invited to serve on the committee to revise the Idaho Jury Instructions, as well as the Civil Rules of Procedure. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, is a member and past President of the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association, and is admitted to practice before the state courts, the federal district court, and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. John has also had substantial appellate experience, and been involved in a significant number of reported appellate decisions.

John is also quite active in his community, having coached numerous teams in youth sports for more than ten years, including baseball, basketball and soccer.
